Buenos Aires, November 22 (NA) – The National Government continues to seek legislative support to approve the budget and advance with second-term reforms. Following this roadmap, the Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli, met this Friday in Santiago del Estero with Governor Gerardo Zamora and his successor, Elías Suárez. The three agreed on the importance of the Government "securing the approval of the 2026 Budget and for Congress to advance on the reform agenda" promoted by President Javier Milei. During the meeting, held at the Provincial Government House, they also discussed the shared work agenda between the Nation and the provinces and emphasized the intention to foster reciprocal dialogue between the provinces and the National Government, it was officially reported. The meeting took place against the backdrop of Zamora, a 'dialogist' opponent, controlling seven national deputies that the Casa Rosada seeks to align with its objectives. According to what was learned by the Argentine News Agency, there is speculation about a possible order from the Santiago leader to form a separate bloc, which would allow Casa Rosada to continue weakening the Peronist bloc, which is on the verge of losing its status as the first minority in the Lower House to La Libertad Avanza (LLA). "I received the Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli, along with the Governor-elect of our province. First, I thanked him for the courtesy of visiting us and listening to us; a gesture I value greatly, as sincere dialogue and the search for common ground for the benefit of a country that must move forward are always necessary," stated Zamora on his social networks. In this sense, the governor commented that "among the various issues we were able to address in this meeting, we agreed on the importance of the Government having the approval of the 2026 Budget as a fundamental working tool for national management." "In this sense, I asked him to make every possible effort so that we can incorporate some issues that the governors (even at one point with the signature of the 24 leaders) have been promoting, such as specific funds (ATN and diesel fuel), or the reduction of the 1.9% aliquot destined for the Arca, among others," Zamora stated. The governor said that these are initiatives that "do not affect the fiscal balance at all, since they are funds that belong to the provinces," something they even expressed at the last meeting of the Northern Great Governors. "After the meeting, we committed from our province to advance in the analysis of reforms that would be promoted by the President of the Nation," the provincial leader concluded. Next Tuesday, Santilli will resume his round of meetings with governors when he makes a new visit, this time to the missionary Hugo Passalacqua.
